There's something magical about Minnesota in the fall, and Lake Rebecca Park in Hastings was the perfect backdrop for the Haselmann family's latest mini portrait session. I've had the joy of capturing memories for the Haselmanns before, and seeing them again, watching the kids grow, and catching up with this wonderful family was the perfect way to spend a gorgeous autumn day. As with many families with young children, energy was definitely not in short supply! From the moment they arrived, the kids were ready to explore, jump, run, and make the most of the golden leaves and open spaces. With little ones, sometimes the best approach is to embrace the energy, capturing those candid moments that show their personalities. It’s part of the fun and keeps everyone engaged, even if it means a few unpredictable shots along the way! To keep things rolling, we eventually turned to a tried-and-true tool in the photographer’s kit: the Skittle bribe. For future reference, if there’s one secret to keeping those smiles coming and avoiding chocolate smudges or colorful drool, it’s mini marshmallows. They’re perfect for little bribes, and unlike chocolate or Skittles, they don’t leave evidence behind. Marshmallows dissolve easily, don’t stain, and blend in with bright teeth in photos. Best of all, you can hand out a few at a time without a sugar rush! Thanks to the Haselmann family for a fantastic session! I’m grateful to continue being part of your family’s story, capturing these precious moments as the kids grow. Here's to more sessions, more laughter, and more adventures next time!
