The Joseph family rounded out my evening of sessions at Pine Tree Pond Park in Cottage Grove, and what a joy it was to photograph them again! I’ve had the privilege of capturing their family in past seasons, and it’s always such a gift to see how the kids have grown and how their love for one another shines stronger each year. This particular evening threatened rain (and downpoured rain right before!), but the clouds held off just long enough for us to enjoy the beauty of the park. The overcast sky softened the light in the loveliest way, making their smiles the brightest thing in every frame. Sometimes those unpredictable Minnesota skies bring a bit of magic—and this was one of those times. Pine Tree Pond is quickly becoming a favorite spot for me and for families like the Josephs. Its mix of winding paths, open fields, and pond views creates endless backdrops for storytelling. We took advantage of that variety, moving between cozy wooded areas and open spaces where the kids could relax and be themselves. I love when a location feels both natural and special, giving families space to connect while I simply document those interactions. What I appreciate most about photographing the Joseph family is their ease together. There’s laughter, hugs, and plenty of playful moments, but also quiet expressions of love that speak volumes. As I clicked away, I was reminded again why I love photographing returning families—it’s not just about making pretty pictures, it’s about building a history of memories you can hold onto. Thank you, Joseph family, for trusting me yet again to capture your story. I look forward to many more sessions together in the years to come!
