The Shore Family | Fall Mini Session at Hastings' Lock & Dam 2 | Minnesota Family Photographer

​When I take a moment to stop amidst the busyness of fall life (and all the family photo sessions that need to be edited), I am regularly beyond blessed that so many families pick me to photograph their journey. This is one of those families. I’ve had the privilege of photographing the Shore family since their engagement, through their wedding, and into the sweet early days of parenthood. Watching their story unfold has been such a gift.

​For this year’s mini session, we met on a gorgeous fall day (which actually felt like summer) along the banks of the Mississippi at Hastings' Lock & Dam 2. It was the kind that feels golden and calm all at once. Little Gabriel was as curious as ever, soaking in the world around him with such sweetness and wonder. His parents were so gentle and protective, giving him space to explore while guiding him with love and laughter.

One of my favorite behind-the-scenes moments was when we tucked mini marshmallows into mom’s shirt pocket — the perfect little trick to keep Gabe’s hands busy and his smile bright! Those small details, the laughter between poses, and the quiet tenderness of this family are what make sessions like this so special.

Recently, Gabriel’s mom shared openly on Facebook about their journey with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS), a rare genetic condition that brings unique challenges but also deep perspective and gratitude. Her words reflect what you see in every photo — strength, grace, and an overflowing love for their little boy.

Families like the Shores remind me why I love what I do — capturing moments that tell a story of faith, resilience, and joy. It’s an honor to continue documenting their beautiful journey, one chapter at a time.
