Why You Really Should Get Your Family Portraits Taken

​​All too often we hear people say that they have never gotten their family photos taken, they haven’t gotten them taken in ages, or they only have taken photos of the kids. And to be honest, all three of these make us so sad. We’ve been there. In fact, we can still be guilty of this very thing! Does it mean you always need a professional photographer to document the special moments of life? No. I very rarely drag along al my camera gear out into public with three little kids because #parenting. I often just use my iPhone for our own photos when we’re out and about and in everyday life. But getting your family portraits done? So important!

It gives you the opportunity to be in the photos versus taking them. I love my hubby a ton, but he’s not the quickest at pulling out his iPhone to take a photo of a special moment (he is getting better!), so almost all of our photos are from my perspective instead of involving me in it. You can definitely take turns as a husband and wife on who takes the photos of the kids and the parent, but even there, you’re not getting the whole family. Plus, hubby/wifey shots? Guess you'll have to ask your child to take one!

​So how about a holding the phone up high and smushing our faces together? Or what about setting the phone somewhere and putting it on a timer? Not a bad idea for sure, but getting the right angle, getting everyone looking, and getting a photo that is worth going on your wall for years to come is really hard to accomplish on your own.

That’s where we come in. We love getting to document the entire family, to help you with posing, with lighting, with getting attention, with whatever we need to do so that you can just be. Be in the moment, be in the specialness of your relationships, and be able to enjoy these photos for years to come.
