Some love stories begin with a grand gesture. Others begin with a quiet observation and a well-timed nudge from a friend. Xander and Bella's story started at Crown College, our shared alma mater. They both arrived at Crown during the same season of life. Meeting when Xander was a junior and Bella was a sophomore. At the time, Xander was serving as a student chaplain and resident assistant, investing deeply in the people around him. Bella had noticed him long before they ever started talking. In fact, the semester before, someone had pointed him out to her with a simple statement: "He's great... and he's single." But while Bella was aware of Xander, he hadn't yet noticed her. That changed one day while he was making rounds with a friend and stopped by the campus coffee shop. Somewhere in the middle of ordinary conversations and everyday college life, Bella finally caught his attention. Still, their story wasn't immediate. Xander later had a friend reach out to him, asking what was going on, so he shared that he felt lonely and discouraged. What he didn't realize at the time was that she was actually closer friends with Bella than she was with him. Seeing an opportunity, she pulled out a picture of Bella. His response? "She's out of my league." Thankfully, she wasn't about to let that stop him. She encouraged him to take a chance and "shoot his shot." According to Xander, the first attempt wasn't exactly smooth. There was some following, unfollowing, refollowing, and eventually a direct message. Bella, of course, noticed all of it. But what stood out wasn't the awkward beginning—it was the intentionality that followed. Rather than settling for surface-level conversation, Xander asked meaningful questions. He listened. He pursued Bella with purpose. Eventually, he asked if she would be willing to hear the longer version of his story over coffee sometime. She said yes. After Fall Break, they went on their first official date to a Minnesota Wild game, and the rest of their story began to unfold. Fast forward to their wedding day at Gale Woods Farm. The morning began with bridal party portraits at Crown College, bringing their story full circle in the place where it all started. Driving up to the campus with them felt like stepping through chapters of their relationship—hallways, friendships, and memories that had quietly shaped the path that led them here. And then came the celebration. From beginning to end, this wedding was marked by something deeper than beautiful details or joyful moments. It was marked by a sincere desire to honor God. Every part of the day reflected that commitment. Family members and friends spoke with overwhelming affection about both Xander and Bella. Everywhere you turned, there were people eager to celebrate not just the couple they had become, but the character they had demonstrated long before this wedding day arrived. The love in the room was tangible. The joy was genuine. And the worship was heartfelt. Before their wedding day, Xander and Bella shared their hope that their celebration would bring honor and glory to God and highlight His faithfulness throughout their story. As I watched them exchange vows surrounded by the people who know them best, it was clear that hope had become reality. Their wedding felt like a glimpse of heaven—a gathering of people united in love, gratitude, and worship of the One who writes every good story. Xander and Bella, thank you for allowing me to document such a meaningful day. It was a joy to witness the beginning of this new chapter and to celebrate the faithfulness of the Lord woven through every part of your story. Congratulations!
