Those newborn baby cuddles. How does it go so fast? One moment you are feeling like you’re stuck in one never-ending day as your nights and days get mixed up and turned around and the next moment, you are looking at your child entering her third grade year. Third grade, already? This is the moments where parents who have gone before younger parents say, “Don’t blink.” Even just this Sunday after church, I talked with a dad who said he is having a hard time adjusting to life without his oldest. He walks past her room… and it is empty. The other siblings have changed things around and it’s just not normal. Or at least the new normal doesn’t feel normal. I digress. All this to say, once again reminded to be present in the moment. One family that I believe does this so well is this family right here. I have personally benefited from close proximity to them. Are they perfect? I think they would be the first to tell you no way, but what we see are people who are desperately trying to show love to those around them out of their love for Jesus and what he did for them first. I see their mama regularly answering “yes” to little children asking for reading books – when I would honestly say, “No,” or “Later, honey.” I see them having intentional and hard conversations from early ages. I see them training to encourage and build those up around them. It is unbelievably beautiful and such a privilege. So, when they reached out and asked if I would take their fifth little one’s newborn photos and updated family photos, I said absolutely. I would not have missed it for the world. Stephen and Lori, keep pressing on! Keep living out the shema of Deuteronomy 6 that tells parents to have God’s commandments on their hearts, to impress them on their children, talk about them at all moments of life, and have them in clear spots to see throughout the day. So grateful for your family! Congrats on the latest addition! PS: The name of Hudson? Comes from Hudson Taylor -- the famous missionary to China, Hudson Taylor and means “heart, mind, spirit” like from Matthew 22:37 which says, “Jesus replied: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ “
