We walked along the streets of downtown St. Paul, chatting about daily life and the years ahead — specifically seeking some fun graffiti and urban vibes. Hailey shared a desire to pursue social work; she’s not totally sure where that will take her, but she is excited about the potential. Hailey said that in the past, she’s enjoyed cheerleading at Park High School, but with all the changes this year, she is not. Even with all that life has brought in 2020, Hailey shows an enormous sense of happiness and overall relaxed nature — something that this year has stripped away from so many. Hailey, hope you have an amazing senior year and have clarity on what the next step is for you!

Meet Garret, an East Ridge High School senior who’s looking at colleges with the desire to pursue a degree in education. As we walked along in downtown Hastings amidst a beautiful fall night (the five inches supposedly coming tomorrow makes this not-so-distant time seem really distant), it was refreshing to hear that someone whose family are in education amidst this crazy season still wants to pursue it — even with all the changes and challenges this year has presented, Garret is wanting to press on and encourage the next generation. Garret, hope you enjoy your senior year!
Confession here: I love it when a senior photo session turns into a hiking adventure. One of the best things about hanging out with seniors is that they’re up for an adventure! So naturally, when Mason’s dad asked if their two dogs could join in on Mason’s Minnesota outdoor senior photos, I was totally game.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve always thought sunflowers were beautiful. But an entire field of sunflowers that you can walk through and take photos at? That’s a thing? Thanks to Instagram, I now know that yes, yes, it is! So when Megan’s mom reached out saying that Megan needed her senior photos taken and that she’d like her senior portraits at a sunflower field, I was all for it!
Maybe it’s just me, but after all the excitement of the holiday season, I can feel rather down in the dumps. We spend November working on being thankful, we go right into December counting down each moment and jam-packing a ton of activities in as we celebrate baby Jesus’ birth at Christmas, and then within a week we are sent into a new year. Wow, just thinking about it leaves my head spinning. And yet, we do this every year… and I’m starting to notice a pattern for myself of where I feel a bit overwhelmed with the daunting tasks and unknown future of the new year as I step into early January.
