Jolene and David // September Fall MN Barn Wedding // Terra Nue Farm in Shafer, Minnesota

We always say that we work hard to make our bride and grooms as comfortable as possible on their wedding day and we work hard specifically in the wedding portrait posing to make it feel natural and full of laughter. Mark reached a new level of making this happen when he accidentally touched a live electric fence during Jolene and David’s bride and groom portraits at Terra Nue Farm a few weeks ago. We immediately all burst out into laughter (sorry, Mark) and it was the running joke the rest of the day about how Mark’s hand was still numb. Needless to say, even with all the excitement, the horse in the background at this point still didn’t acknowledge our existence – another funny moment of us making any and every animal sound and movement to try to get its attention but it stubbornly looked in the other direction! 

​David and Jolene braved a cold September day. We kept saying throughout the day how last year at this time of year it was 85 with 90% humidity and this year it barely hit 40 – in fact, we saw our first snow on the way to their wedding. Even amidst all the chilliness at a rustic MN outdoor venue, this beautiful couple was still surrounded by their closest friends and family. We laughed as we all would take turns huddled around the propane tank heaters and at one moment, even used the coaster favors as gloves – the things you do to survive in Minnesota weather!
 
Jolene and David, we hope you are enjoying your first few weeks of marriage in your new home! We pray that you’ve been able to set aside time to marvel in the newness of this step and set a beautiful precedence for the rest of your lives! As we can say firsthand, marriage is not always easy but it is oh-so-worth-it! Continue to remind yourselves the reasons for why you first fell in love and focus on the positives, allowing the negatives to blur into the background. Best wishes and lots of love!
