Minneapolis Senior Session // Sam Gurry

Everyone loves a good laugh. And this guy? He's got it. The big bellowing laugh is my particular favorite. It isn’t even a short laugh, it’s the kind that starts that you’re like, “what’s so funny?” but soon it’s so contagious that you can’t help but join in. Sam is going to be majorly missed in our youth group next year. The thought of not having him on a Wednesday night just leaves me sad. I like to start off my blog posts with a good story, but when I think of Sam, too many come to mind.  Like the time he got stuck in between the door and the seat in the church van and then fell out when the door was opened. The time that he wore a life jacket because he couldn’t swim and he wanted to jump off a 30 foot cliff (parent permission was acquired). The time that he fell of a curb and threw his Taco Bell on the mission trip, I seriously could go on, but for the sake of Sam, I’ll move on.
 
One of my favorite things about Sam is how he sees you. He greets you. He genuinely smiles and cares. Another thing about him is that he’s very honest and truthful. He doesn't hide his true feelings -- whether that means he doesn't want to do something or that he really wants to play Mafia, he lets you know.
 
Sam, Mark and I are so proud of you and who you are becoming each day. You’re getting it and we pray that you keep getting it. We’ve loved being here to watch you grow and mature. Keep pressing on. In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, Christ has overcome it.

PS – Ethan will miss dropping you off every Wednesday night and saying, “bye, Sam!”
