Rock Family's Fall Mini Photos in Hastings, MN

It’s always so fun to see the laughter and playful sides of families. Every once and a while, a family shows up and immediately strikes a pose for their photos – which is great, but we don’t need a pose, we need to see you as people. You know, naturally smiling and laughing, playing and walking, talking and, well, just being people. Sure, we absolutely suggest how to stand and where to put your hands. We’ve definitely seen that people don’t know where, when, and how to do those things to look best on camera, but once we’ve gotten through the initial setup, we’ll do the hard work. And your goal? Have fun, be joyful, make memories. This is where the Rock Family rocks their family photo sessions. Ha! Yes, every pun intended.

Speaking of puns, when we first met these two when they were pregnant with little Gavin here, I unintentionally said repeatedly during the session that they were rocking it. Finally, Mark – who we joke has a PHD in dad jokes – pointed it out to me, and I instantly started blushing, but Katie and Brian were unbelievably gracious. Before we knew it, we were taking Gavin’s newborn lifestyle photos in their home in the middle of July. Did I mention that they were probably the only home in the middle of summer that had their heat on? They had wisely listened about how newborns stay warm and snuggly best when they’re warm and snuggly (crazy, huh?) and so prepared with the heat on. Gavin adorably slept almost the entire session.

Brian, Katie, and Gavin, it’s been so fun to watch your family change over the years. We love the playful stage that you are in – where you spend all day running and hoping to get your kid to bed on time and then most likely look at fun photos of them when they’re finally sleeping. We pray you’re able to find rest, to soak up these days, and to look back on these photos of these days for years to come.
