It’s always fun when you just click. Like yes, totally between a couple absolutely – in fact, it’s a must. But when you just click with the couple you’re photographing? Love it! This is exactly how we felt when we met up with Kayley and Isaiah at Afton State Park a few weeks back for their engagement photos. We had previously met Kayley when we photographed her dad marrying her stepmom (You can see their fun backyard wedding with all the beautiful horses here.), but we had not met Isaiah besides a zoom call… and yet, it felt like we already had. Isaiah and Mark hit it off within seconds and giggled like middle school boys the rest of the engagement session, talking about important life things like always looking for deer when driving a car and such. But these two weren’t the only ones with chemistry, Isaiah and Kayley obviously have a lot of fun together. They laughed and were so comfortable with each other even as we put them into different poses – feels weird, looks great, we told them. We’ll let you be the judge of that. (The answer is a definite yes: they look amazing!) Kayley and Isaiah, thanks so much for trusting us to capture this special stage of life! The engagement period feels like forever, and yet it truly is a blink of the eye. As you continue to prep for your wedding day, make sure you’re preparing your hearts for marriage more than the actual details of the day. The goal by the end of your wedding day is to be married, so we’d recommend building a strong foundation at the start versus later having to go back and do “underpinning” (where you raise the sinking structure to where it should be). There will always be things to fix, always be things to improve on, but keep that focus on the right place and fight for – not with – one another.
