It all started over a game of volleyball. I had been hired by the athletic department at my school to help for volleyball games with stats since I had played in high school and knew the game. Well, at least I thought I knew it. Props go out to anyone who does NCAA stats during volleyball because, wow, that is a lot. You have to record the players, what they did, what the outcome was, and keep up with the game as it goes back and forth. If you have ever watched competitive volleyball, you know that a good volley cannot only last a long time, but move very quickly. This is where I met Luke. He was Crown College’s newly hired athletic department staff and basketball head coach. Somehow, we decided that I would run the keyboard for the games and Luke would call out the plays to me. Needless to say, we got to know each other and how to work well with each other and have fun in a fast-paced environment quickly. I met Lindsey not too long after. It was the final semester of my senior year and the way that my credits and financial aid worked was that if I took another 3 credit class (even though I didn’t need it) I would receive an extra $1500. Not a bad deal! So, my husband Mark said that if I took photography, we would use some of the funds to buy me my first DSLR camera. At first, I didn’t want to buy the camera because I don’t like to spend money. Thankfully, Mark pushed me and wha-la, I took photography and bought a camera. The photography teacher? Lindsey Herbert. She was so awesome in sharing her inside scoop of photography land but from a solid background of education. She gave solid constructive criticism and created assignments that were fun and stretched me as well as allowed me to second shoot with her in a wedding the following summer. Luke & Lindsey, thanks so much for the opportunity to take your family’s photos again! It’s so fun to see how your kids have grown since last year’s session. I am so honored and so appreciative of the way you have encouraged me along this journey and genuinely cared about me and my family. I wish you the best as you journey into a family of five!
