You know when you leave after just meeting a person, but instead, you feel like you’re leaving lifelong friends? This is how I felt after taking the Abla’s family photos at Afton State Park. Armando and Brenda have four precious children – three boys and one girl. Within moments of arriving for their portrait session, they decided they were game for hiking the half mile down to the river to enjoy the beauty there. This is pretty impressive when you have two younger kiddos and are dressed up! But it was oh so worth it! We chatted about life, what they both do, how long we lived in the area, and all the things as we walked down to the water – breaking the ice and warming up the kids to my hanging about. Then, it was time to pick up the camera and try to get the littles attentions. With all the excitement of the fresh air, it was hard to get and keep the second littlest (Miguel’s) attention, so I pulled out the elephant sound. Basically you purse your lips together and blow air out – something my parents did when I was little and gave the gift of teaching me! Very quickly, it got and kept Miguel’s attention, and we spent the remainder of the time searching for elephants… at Afton State Park. Brenda and Armando, thank you for so warmly welcoming me into your everyday family life specialness! Thank you for trusting me to take these precious photos and for a beautifully wonderful night out along the water. I had a blast with your four amazing kids! I hope your family loves the photos of this fun night as much as I do and enjoy them for years to come! Keep pressing on and persevering in parenting amidst a crazy world!
