Jenna & Kyle's Spring Golden Hour Maternity Portraits at Afton State Park, Minnesota

I have been pregnant three times, and as I sit here, listening to the rain and my hubby upstairs putting our two boys to bed after I put our little girl to bed, it’s amazing to me to realize that the pregnancy years are already behind us. It’s a time where it seems like it’s so long, and yet when you look back, that precious baby did come and very soon wasn’t a baby anymore. This is why we always tell our couples to document these life changes, because if we keep living in them, they’ll pass in the blink of an eye. We’re so excited that Jamie & Kyle here wanted to do just that and chose to hike along Afton State Park for their maternity portraits.

Jamie & Kyle have such a joy to them – they spent almost the entire session smiling (without being prompted) and giggling with each other. Such a fun relationship! Jamie – who is 35 weeks pregnant -- is an orthopedic nurse at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, and Kyle is an insurance underwriter who has been able to work from home since COVID started last year. They shared that they’ve had the chance to get baby’s room done, read through some parenting books, and, overall, feel pretty well prepared for baby to come. Speaking of baby, Jamie & Kyle don’t know if baby is a girl or a boy. They decided to have the fun of the surprise! They both have a sneaking suspicion that baby is a girl though and shared they’ve had plenty of opinions from family, friends, as well as the patients Jamie sees at the hospital.

​Kyle & Jamie, thanks for such a fun night outdoors! You two made me smile from ear-to-ear, and I’m so excited for you as you step into this adventure as parents! I hope you remember to implement the small little changes in this crazy newborn stage – remember it won’t last forever! As I shared that night, we loved adding “hot cocoa” dates where we sat face-to-face on the edges of the couch and sipped on a cup of hot cocoa, talking about our day, or doing some sort of Bible study/questionnaire prompt – and once that cocoa was done, off to bed because #newbornsleepdeprivation. Enjoy those soon-to-be family snuggles!
