In-Home Lifestyle Family Portraits, Chaska, MN // the Rush Family

I love the chance to step into the everyday life of our amazing couples and families when we step into their homes for a family lifestyle session. We know that it may mean that they do some quick cleanup – or sometimes not so quick – but getting to see a family in their everyday moments, especially in the holly jolly of Christmas time, just adds such a special element to a family photo session.

For one, it puts little ones at ease because it’s their normal environment. No new smells (except me), no wind, no car trips that mess up nap time – just cuddles with mom and dad on the couch, reading books in their bedroom, and, of course, a quick diaper change. 

Getting to catch up with a previous WP bride & groom? Priceless! We first met Nathan and Cali two years ago for their engagement session at Lebanon Hills Regional Park. Their active pup, Hank, came to join in the fun. A year later, we reconvened on the Saturday after Thanksgiving for their wedding day at Rush Creek Golf Club – a windy wintry day indoors in the beautiful rich, dark wood with natural rock venue specially decorated for Christmas early at these two’s wish. Then we saw them this summer to take some mini portraits of their maternity, so to be able to meet little Reese now was precious! Talking with and watching Nathan & Cali with Reese definitely showed their love for her, their adoration for each other amidst this crazy transition, and even a bit of sleep deprivation/brain overload in how many times we scrambled for the right word – although, I was mostly to blame for this one (#lifewiththreekids)! 

Nathan and Cali, your home is beautiful and it was such a honor to step into it to document your everyday life and this precious stage. Thanks so much for the amazing Magnolia mugs! I definitely used one today for my morning coffee. Can’t wait to see where you all are at next time we meet! Merry Christmas!
