One of the most precious things that happens on a wedding day is uncovering the behind-the-scenes stories and details that aren’t shared with everyone. In fact, I love this so much that we’ve made it a new goal of ours to try to notice the special little things and remember them, so that we can share them after the wedding day. Ariel and Alex’s wedding day at Olympic Hills Golf Club in Eden Prairie had so many of them, though, that we might not be able to share them all, but we’ll try!

Ariel & Alex have been together for two years – 13 months of it they were engaged. Their story still makes us smile as we think about it. Alex had apparently asked a colleague if he knew anyone worth dating. After a bit, the colleague set up Alex with one of his wife’s best friend’s, Ariel, and the rest was literally history. They closed down every place they went on their first three dates with how long they just enjoyed being in each other’s company.  Apparently setting people up with each other is something that happens a good amount in this group as Alex helped his best man meet his wife as well! This brings us to one of our first behind the scenes of their wedding day – the random dice in the photos? Not so random. Alex’s best man, Mike, gave it to him as wedding gift; a few of the couples that were present at their wedding day regularly get together to play Dungeons & Dragons together.

Just like the gift of the dice, these two are so thoughtful. You could hear it from anyone you talked to on their wedding day: in their family’s and bridal party’s speeches, in the little coloring pages and tiara for the kids, and in how they treated each other. Alex designed the ring for Ariel himself, and she hadn’t seen it all together until the day, but he wasn’t the only one with a surprise. After their first look, Ariel handed Alex an envelope, and when he opened it, his eyes filled with water. She had asked permission and had been granted a piece of Alex’s grandmother’s wedding dress and had it made into a handkerchief for their day. The tenderness between these two truly was so touching!

Ariel & Alex, congrats you guys! We seriously loved hanging out with you for your day! Thanks for sitting us at such a fun table for dinner, for inviting us to walk alongside you in this beautiful day, and for trusting us to capture all the little moments! We pray that as you look through these photos, you’ll be brought back to the joy!
