Sam & Austin's Winter Maternity Portraits in Hastings, MN

The first time we took Austin and Sam's photo was their engagement photos at these locations in Hastings, Minnesota. Coming full circle now to do their maternity portraits in the same charming town was a fun then-and-now moment for us all! (Although last time, it was in the middle of summer and hot. This time, it was in winter and rather chilly.) We love to walk alongside a couple and document the next chapter in their love story.

I'm not kidding about the weather being opposite to their engagement session. Their maternity portraits were the day before we got windchills below -20. Thankfully, it was the day before versus the day of! The snow was so light and fine that we had to regularly wipe it off Austin's hair to make it not look like he was going grey. We started their photos at Vermillion Falls, visited Lake Rebecca Park, and then finished by warming up within the newly renovated and gorgeous Confluence Hotel. In between the locations, we did the Minnesota shuffle back to our cars to thaw out and de-ice our vehicles yet again. They will share stories with baby girl for years to come about the time they braved the cold to document this precious chapter of preparing for her arrival. (Thankfully, their wedding day at Breezy Point was a perfect day for them! If looking for warm and fall-like photos, look no further. I promise they'll come again!)

Austin and Sam, so excited for you as you are about to close the end of one chapter of your love story and are stepping soon into another. We have gone through many seasons of photos from the 2020 summer engagement to the 2021 fall wedding and now winter maternity portraits! I guess we will have to do some family photos in the spring. ;)

We pray you two are ready to stand strong, holding fast to one another as you welcome a new season—the season of parenthood.
