Being outdoors at Vermillion Falls in Hastings taking couple portraits is finally somewhat of a sense of normal life in being back! Getting to start to see real people in person instead of on a screen is absolutely refreshing! We first met Katelyn & Carlos at Katelyn’s brother and his wife’s beautiful Redeemed Farms wedding last fall. They stepped out at the end of the wedding and pulled us aside, asking if we would be willing to shoot their intimate wedding in a few short weeks. We met for coffee a few days later and before we knew it, the day had quickly come – and we were standing on the 18th floor balcony of a downtown Minneapolis apartment right by Stone Arch Bridge taking their ceremony photos amidst a “dip and dots” like snowstorm.
Katelyn and Carlos, thanks for being the first couple to have us pull back out the cameras and be outdoors. Thanks for sharing how this pandemic has changed you, how it has encouraged you to love each other and spend time with each other more as well as pursue what you want to do versus spending each day wishing it was different. Thank you for sharing your heart and grief about the world and how we need to seek racial reconciliation. Thank you for allowing me to see and hear you and also, simultaneously, seeing and hearing me in a world where we’ve cut out a lot of the real face-to-face time. It’s in times like these that true growth and change can happen, that we can overcome the turmoil and heartache in this world, and we can encourage each other and build each other up.
I am praying for you both as you start and seek out new positions and adventures! Continue to enjoy spending time together, growing and strengthening your marriage, so that you can take on what is ahead!
