Summer Family Mini Photo Sessions in Cottage Grove, MN // Werdien Family

Call me crazy, but I am a sucker for the families who set up a time each year to get their family photos taken. There is such an honor to get to see the kids grow up from behind the lens of a camera, to document the precious stages of each year and family transition, and to hang out with the family again and again! Whether extended family mini session in the fall or a full in-home portrait session like this family’s addition of little Eliza, we LOVE it.

One more cool thing about this family? We’re in the same boat! Wait, what? Yeah, I know. A bit confusing, so let me explain. I don’t know about you, but this whole coronavirus world thing is a bit of a head spin – then you add the fact that your child is about to start school in some sort of level that you don’t know how it will happen, but it’s happening in less than a month? Whirlwind. It was so refreshing to get to chat with Julia about how absolutely crazy this all is – and so cool to find out that their child and our child are at the same school! (If we are even getting to go to school? I digress.) This season has taught me the specialness of togetherness. It’s so easy to feel isolated and alone as we adapt to a hopefully-not-new-normal, and it’s so important to be able to look up and away from the world of social media or our own house and realize that we really aren’t in this alone. (Anyone else cuing up the High School Musical “All in This Together” song in your head?)

We're a husband and wife wedding and portrait photographer team based in Cottage Grove, Minnesota! What exactly does that mean?
